Africa Writes Festival

BOOK LAUNCH with Numbi Arts

The Story of Us by Hanna Ali at the AfricaWrites Festival on Saturday, 30 June 2018! 15:30-17:00. Save the Date!

Join us for a reading and an inter-generational conversation about contemporary Somali literature. We will be exploring the process of archiving new work and asking how young people today are engaging with and creating literature in Somali, looking at translation, interpreting and working with archives.

The event will feature Hanna Ali’s book Sheekadii Noloshayada (published in 2017 Somali, and 2018 in English as The Story of Us), a piece of dream-like biomythographical prose that ‘captures the unspoken tensions, hopes and wishes of displaced people’.

Debut author Hanna Ali’s short story collection is published by Market FiftyFour – an online African language platform publishing affordable ebooks and audiobooks.

Attendees are invited to purchase a copy ($3,50) on marketfiftyfour.com

Presented in partnership with Numbi Arts – the Somali-originated and Africa-centered platform for emerging and established practices with a completely globally inclusive outlook and program. www.numbi.org

Included in Weekend Pass and Saturday Day Tickets
