Hanna Ali at Primadonna Festival, program

Primadonna Festival is the brainchild of a group of inspiring women from the publishing and entertainment industry. The festival was born out of a desire give prominence to work by women and spotlight authors from the margins—and to create a thoroughly joyous and accessible experience. The festival will not only focus on writing and literature, there will also be live music, films and comedy.

“We want to include the kind of women who are often left out,” said one of the founders, author and activist Catherine Mayer in a Guardian interview. In which she also spoke of the enduring weighting towards male writers in the publishing and book promotion businesses.

The Primadonna festival will run from 30 August to 1 September at Stowmarket, Suffolk. Get your tickets here.
